Choosing and Using Breast Feeding Pumps

People tend to look all over the internet for the articles that they need. This one is just what you have been browsing for.
If you're an expectant mother planning to breast feed, congratulations! You've made the best choice for your baby. Breastfed babies are thought to receive more protective antibodies and nutrients than bottle fed babies. Experts believe that breastfed babies get sick less often, and have a lower risk of SIDS. They may even be at a decreased risk of diabetes later in life. Mothers get lots of benefits as well. They lose weight more quickly and experience less postpartum bleeding. Breastfeeding is also more affordable than bottle feeding. There are a few supplies you'll need, including breast feeding pumps.
You may be wondering why you need to pump breast milk. There are various reasons why you may want or need to do this. Working moms who choose to breastfeed must pump in order to provide their babies sustenance while they're away. Even if you're a stay at home mother, there may be times when you will need childcare. Your baby will need to eat while you're gone, which is why pumped breastmilk is so important. Many women are intimidated by the thought of pumping milk, but this procedure gets easier and more comfortable with time and practice.
There are a wide variety of pumps on the market today for moms to choose from. Hospital grade electric pumps are what hospitals use, and can effectively pump both breasts at the same time. These pumps are effective yet costly, and recommended for women who need to pump frequently. For example, if you are unable to breastfeed but still want your baby to have breastmilk, one of these pumps would be an ideal choice. For less frequent pumpers, there are better choices such as electric and battery powered personal grade pumps. Some women prefer manual pumps to automatic ones.
Using breast feeding pumps gets easier over time. When using an automatic pump, simply attach the suction cup to the breast, turn the pump on, and let it do the work. The expressed milk will be gathered in an attached storage container. With a manual pump, you will be extracting the milk yourself by squeezing or plunging. On average, you can expect to spend around 15 minutes using an automatic pump and 45 minutes using a manual one. If you have problems pumping breast milk, talk to your doctor. He or she can teach you how to use your pump effectively or refer you to a breast feeding specialist for help.
